Founder, Co-Owner & Coach
Founder and co-owner of Blackhawks FC, Coach Matt is a civil engineer and has been married for 20+ years. He has 3 sons who inspired the creation of this club. Coach Matt played club soccer growing up and made the varsity team in high school as a freshman. He has been coaching youth soccer since 2004 and retains a USSF "D" coaching license. In 2010, he established Blackhawks FC and has coached more than 700 academy and competitive games. He teaches a possession-style of play and focuses on teaching his players the fundamentals of soccer; he believes the team which is the most fundamentally sound usually wins. He also believes sports and the game of soccer teach many life lessons: winning, losing, perseverance, respect, discipline, hard work, determination and teamwork. His teams have been league, division and tournament champions.
Co-Owner & Coach
Co-Owner of Blackhawks FC, Coach John is originally from Titusville, Florida and lived abroad during his elementary years. He has worked, played and coached soccer for 30+ years. Including 10+ years in Professional Soccer, having spent time with USSF National Teams Program as the Head Equipment Manager for the Federation and on staff for the 1998 Men's World Cup in France. He was also part of the inaugural year of Major League Soccer's Tampa Bay Mutiny franchise. He then went on to work for the Women's United Soccer Association's Atlanta Beat franchise. In his playing career John was a member of the Florida U23 Men's State Select Team, he has played in North Texas Men's Premier League, Atlanta Men's Premier League, and numerous other leagues over the past 30 years. He resides in McKinney with his lovely wife. He has a grown son & daughter and is a proud grandfather. He believes sports and the game of soccer specifically, teach many life lessons: winning, losing, perseverance, respect, discipline, hard work, determination, fitness and teamwork. Coach John's passion for the game and desire to teach are the foundation of his coaching.
Luis joined the Blackhawks coaching staff in the fall of 2014. He grew up in Orange County, CA and has lived in Mckinney since 2008. He played Semi-Pro for West Michigan Edge. He played soccer in Mexico and Costa Rica. He played Division I Soccer @ CSUF & Division II Soccer @ CSULA. He played Youth Club Soccer with California Flyers. His Youth Soccer accomplishments include 1995 U17 U.S. National Champion, and back to back 1994/1995 Dr. Pepper Dallas Cup Champions. He played right midfielder. He's been coaching for 10 years. Much of his coaching philosophy stems from the creativity and ball skills of Brazilian soccer, when he was coached by Rildo Menezes, a native Brazilian. His teachings emphasized fundamentals, technique and composure on the ball. Luis thrives on helping players improve in all facets of the game. He is a passionate coach who continues to evolve with the sport through coaching education and experiences. The Zavala soccer family consists of his lovely wife and his two sons.
Stacy is the wife of Coach Matt Alexander. They have 3 boys - all very athletic and involved in soccer as well as other sports. She has been a huge support as Matt has been inspired to create this club. She is a CPA by trade and she handles all the financial accounts for all club members.
